This is an original WW2 No.4 MK1* .303 calibre rifle made in USA by Savage Stevens to support the war effort under the wartime lend lease arrangement. The rifle has excellent, all original woodwork throughout. The rifle is serial number 32C8807. The breech is marked ‘No.4 MK1*’. The grip strap has the Savage Stevens maker mark ‘S’ & 1942 date. The barrel shank has South African WD ‘U with Broad Arrow’ mark. The rifle is complete with winged fore sight and swivel rear sight. It also has a bayonet lug, brass butt plate with trap and original webbing sling. Deactivated to UK specification in 2011 the rifle cocks and dry fires & the magazine can be removed. The rifle comes with an original No.4 ‘Pig Sticker’ Socket Bayonet. The bayonet’s 8” blade is straight and undamaged, the socket has the correct release catch which functions as it should. The socket is stamped ‘No.4 MK 1’. The bayonet’s original steel scabbard has a frog locket and ball end. The throat is marked ‘No.4 MK 1’. The scabbard is fitted with original WD webbing frog which has stencilled ink markings (illustrated). The price includes deactivation certificate & UK delivery. Sn 21216:3
