Our example is in excellent condition. The heavy polished blade is 13 ¾” long, 2 ½” at its widest point and 19 ½” overall length. The undamaged, heavy blade is 6mm thick and is clean. The blade is stamped by the American manufacturer with partially visible ‘SA’ (Springfield Armoury) above the Frankford Arsenal ignited grenade mark and Model ‘09’ (1909). The reverse is stamped ‘U.S’ (Army) above number ‘167’. The full tang hilt has undamaged walnut scales secured by 3 rivets. The pommel tip has the correct brass cap. The later heavy leather scabbard has a rear riveted belt loop and retaining strap with retaining strap and stud fastener. The leather is impressed with letters ‘K.P’ above ‘K WD arrow G’ within cartouche & manufacturer cartouche ‘Hobson & Sons London’ & 1954 date indicating later British military issue. All leather and stitching of the scabbard are intact. The price includes UK delivery. ED 2192
