Description

~ WW1 German Butchers Bayonet 1916 in Chrome with Original Chrome Scabbard ~

Second pattern example of the M1898, known as the n/A (neuer Art = newer model), The n/A had the more common two-piece wood grip.

This example was made in 1916 by Simson & Co. in Suhl. It carries the Royal Cypher of Kaiser (Emperor) Wilhelm II of Prussia, who reigned 1888–1918. Wilhelm II was the “Kaiser Wilhelm” of First World War fame. It still has the matching scabbard with the correct markings on the frog button, the leather frog has indistinguishable markings on the back, this is a lovely set that looks to be original.

~ Condition ~

The chromed blade is in excellent order with only minor blemishes, the pommel and crossguard are the same with a fully working button, the grips are in great condition for the age. The scabbard is in comparable condition with minor dents, the frog is undamaged and in good condition for its age. Please see the pictures as these form part of our condition report.

~ Postage ~

UK postage is £15, international at cost or it can be inspected in our shop.
