The Repeating Rifle Model M1895, better known as the Mannlicher M1895 rifle is a bolt-action rifle, designed by Ferdinand Ritter von Mannlicher. The M1895 is unusual in employing a straight-pull bolt action, as opposed to the more common rotating bolt-handle of other rifles. It was consequently renowned for combining a high rate of fire (around 30–35 rounds per minute) with reliability and sturdiness. This is an original M95 Steyr straight pull bolt carbine. These weapons were used throughout WW1 and into the 1930’s. When the Nazi's came to power many M1895 rifles and carbines were given to Bulgarian Units. The wood furniture of this weapon is in excellent condition as is the metal work which has a nice patina & original blue finish throughout. The breech is stamped ‘Steyr M.95’. The carbine is serial number 2561S and has other un-matching numbers. It has bayonet lug, sling swivels set for across the chest carry by mounted infantry troops, steel butt plate, block and blade fore sight and ladder rear sight. Originally deactivated to an early UK specification in 1995, the original deactivation certificate was lost at some point in its life and in 2023 a replacement UK certificate was issued, not requiring any further deactivation work on the carbine. The weapon cocks & dry fires. The price includes deactivation certificate & UK delivery **we can arrange for this firearm to be brought up to the latest UK/EU specification for UK customers (customers can purchase on our lay-away scheme. The weapon will then be brought up to EU specification and the relevant certificate obtained prior to the transfer of ownership and delivery)** D 5972
