Kern learned in Aarau the profession of instrument maker He went to Munich, one of the former centres of optical research and construction of fine mechanical instruments and opened his own workshop after his return in Aarau. They supplied the Swiss Army with optical and navigation equipment during WWI/II. The leather case is made by Peenninger, Sattler, Stafa, C. Zurich which is stamped to the base along with the number 16. The case is thick leather and is in excellent condition with a nice patina. The straps, stitching and metalwork are in good order. The binoculars are stamped with the Swiss cross to either side of the frame along with ‘1940’ 6X24 Kern AARAU and Armee-Modell. They are also stamped with; No21989. The top lens caps are present and the lenses are in good order. The leather strap is good and the body of the binoculars are showing a good aged patina. The price includes UK delivery. OPT 805.
