Description

This is the cavalry carbine variant of the British .577 Snider–Enfield breech-loading rifle. The American Jacob Snider invented this firearm action, and the Snider–Enfield was one of the most widely used of the Snider varieties. The British Army adopted it in 1866 as a conversion system for its ubiquitous 1853 Pattern Enfield muzzle-loading rifles, and used it until 1874 when the Martini–Henry rifle began to supersede it. This weapon contains numerous markings and all parts work as they should. The barrel is approximately 19.5 inches and the total length is 38 inches.

*Condition*

This carbine is in excellent condition with expected pitting to the metal parts and some minor knocks to the wooden parts. The tiger stripe pattern remains clear across the gun and all markings are visible. Please see pictures for more detail as they form part of our condition report.
