Side plate engraved "JOVER" on one side and "LONDON" on the other. (William Jover was a gunsmith in London from 1784 to 1810 at 65 New Bond Street, and 26 Mortimer Street). Round turn off barrel, bore approx .45. Flat sided walnut butts. Stamped with two London proof marks and a makers mark under barrel. Showing some genuine signs of use. Hammer will not hold back at full-cock, one screw in the frizzen hinge now missing, otherwise in reasonable condition and working order. This is the type of pistol that would have been carried for personal protection during the late 18th century. Ref 8931.
