A good squared section hilt with ebony grips inset in one side with a shield shaped brass escutcheon. Decorated brass pommel. The short brass cross-guard embossed in the centre with an anchor to both sides and terminating in Dolphin's heads to each side. The straight single edged blade is approx 12 inches in length. No scabbard. Overall length 18.5 inches. This dirk is in very good condition. A very interesting naval dirk unusual with having the shield shaped inset in the wooden grips. Ref 3987.
