A rare Flintlock brass barrel Naval Blunderbuss pistol manufactured by BOND of London dating from the Napoleonic era C. 1800-1816. The lock plate engraved with the maker's name BOND. (Edward James Bond had a workshop at 45 Cornhill, London). Two British proof marks stamped on the barrel breech alongside the makers cartouche. The 8 inch brass barrel engraved on top "LONDON". Brass trigger guard & two brass ramrod pipes, wooden ramrod fitted with a brass end. Walnut fish-tale shaped butt. Action in good working order. In extremely good overall condition with very minor scratching to the wood. Overall length 14 inches. These blunderbuss pistols were popular with all naval officers as well as other sea-faring men.
