Circa 1840. The pistol engraved with the makers name HOLLIS CHELTENHAM on the octagonal 4.5 inch barrel. William Hollis had a workshop on the High Street, in Cheltenham circa 1829-1856. The pistol is fitted with a spring belt hook and a swivel captive rammer. Finely chequered walnut butt with a oblong escutcheon fitted to the rear. A fine chisselled lions head butt-cap. British proof marks stamped to the breech and barrel. Fine engraving overall. Action in very good working order with a strong spring. In good overall condition with a few minor dings and scratches.
