A superb Napoleonic era single barrelled Flintlock Duelling Pistol, made by the Irish gunsmith TOMLINSON of DUBLIN circa 1805. Approx .60 calibre. Steel spurred trigger guard engraved to the middle. The octagonal barrel half stocked & inlaid at the breech with a gold maker's mark and the makers name "TOMLINSON DUBLIN" & a crown. Robert Tomlinson had a workshop in Dublin at 123 Chapel Street Circa 1805. Two iron ramrod pipes and complete with a brass tipped wooden ramrod. Gold-lined pan & touch-hole. The lock-plate fitted with a sliding safety and engraved with the makers name in a gold oval. Nicely browned octagonal barrel approx 10 inches in length and fitted with a blade front-sight. The barrel fitted with a V rear sight at the breech. The wooden stock inset at the wrist with an elaborate silver escutcheon bearing a family coat-of arms showing an erect arm holding a sword with family initials engraved under ''W. Mc D'' and the motto ''FORTIS IN ARDUIS''. Nicely chequered walnut grip. No apparent repairs or damage. The pistol in good condition. Overall length approx 15 inches (38cms). Ref 2863.
