INERT DEACTIVATED. This is a (30x173) round for the GAU-8 7 barrelled Gatling aircraft gun fitted to the Republic A10 tank buster aircraft. The gun was introduced in service in 1977 and is capable of firing 4,200 rounds per minute. The steel cartridge case retains most of its original gray lacquered finish. The green lacquered steel cartridge case has a white stenciled headstamped 28107310-Y over USE91A017-223 and a brass percussion primer. The steel projectile has a blue anodised alloy pointed nose cone with a single nylon driving band. The projectile retains most of its original blue painted finish.
