This are an unfired WW 1 British Nordenfelt high explosive nose fused round used in the British 6 Pounder Nordenfelt gun first introduced in Royal Navy service in 1885. These guns were used by the Royal Navy and in the first British male tanks after their introduction in 1916. The cartridge case (made by Kynoch), is head stamped 6Pr III 260 LOT54 CF (Cordite Full Charge) K (Kynoch), a naval anchor and a Crowfoot over 219. The nose fused high explosive base fused projectile is stamped S388B over 22 over 60 INT 8Pr N (Naval) FS (Forged Steel) S . the projectile is also stamped vertically HADFIELDS 8 2 16 (8th August 1916). The brass GS taper collar at the top of the projectile is stamped 388 over 22 over 60 , the same as is stamped on the projectile and 2M diagonally oposite. The projectile is fitted with a brass time fuse graduated up to 18 and is stamped on the side P and 12/00. No licence is required to possess inert rounds in the UK if retained as a part of a collection or display. O 1658 £395
