This is a rare brass cartridge case made by the Czechs for their Czech 8.35cm VZ 22 anti-aircraft gun and then reloaded by the German occupation forces for the captured Czech 8.35cm VZ 22 anti-aircraft guns. The gun was introduced in the Czech army in 1923 and when the country was occupied by the Germans in 1939, they took 119 of the guns into service and renamed it the 8.35 cm Flak 22 (t), t designating Czechoslovakia. The cartridge case is headstamped 8.35cm vz.23 1936 1943 (R with the Czech lion and the monogram for Zbrojovka Brno which was renamed by the Germans as Waffenwerke Brunn. The side of the cartridge still has its original black loading information stencilling on the side 8.35cm Flak 22 t 2,93kg NgI.R.P.M 97h/36-(5,54x1,85/550) S1935/83Sn Nsch 26.6.40 Sr. (Reloading date 26th June 1940).
