Description

This is a very nice M1909 bayonet with the Argentinian crest intact. These were usually ground off when the bayonets became obsolete and sold to other South American countries. This example has the feint Weyersberg Kirsch Baum & Co. Solingen on one side and Modelo Argentino 1090 over the Argentinian crest and G5117 on the other. The pommel also carries an R.A. in an oval denoting Republic of Argentina. The blade is 15 ¾” long, fullered and in excellent condition. The grips are wood held by domed rivets. The scabbard is blue steel in excellent condition and carries matching numbers to the blade i.e. G5117. The scabbard also has an impressed cross within a letter D and A circle with a cross. The mouth of the scabbard also has a circle with a cross and an A. The tip of the scabbard also carries the R.A. within an oval. A well-marked example with matching numbers and crest intact. See Martin J. Brayley, an illustrated history of bayonets Page 20. £395. BAYO 683.
