Create my profile now!This is a rare to find pre WW1 dated French Lebel Model 1886 8mm Calibre Service rifle. These rifles were used by the French army during WW1. It has all original wood with just the bumps & bruises to be expected with age and service use. It has adjustable ladder rear sight, block & blade fore sight, steel butt plate, bayonet bar and sling swivels. The left side of the frame is marked with model and manufacturer detail ‘St Etienne Manufacture D’Armes Mle 1886’. The barrel is dated ‘1889’ (all illustrated). The barrel, underside of the action, bolt and wood have all matching numbers 97192. The rifle measures 51” overall length. Deactivated to UK/EU specification in 2018 the weapon’s bolt & trigger move. The bayonet comes with illustrated in the images is not included but is available separately. The rifle comes with a period, correct original M1886 Brass Hilt Cruciform Blade Bayonet. The bayonet is clean with a 20 ½” cruciform blade which is straight and tapers to a pin sharp point. The brass hilt has the correct curved quillon muzzle ring and knurled lever button release catch which works as it should.
